Reds Meadow Road closure planned October 9 for necessary repairs 

Sierra Rec Magazine – Forest Service Announcement – August 30, 2018 – The Inyo National Forest and Devils Postpile National Monument are planning for winter on the Reds Meadow Road.  The road will close at the Minaret Vista Gate on October 9, 2018 at noon. The Inyo National Forest’s engineering staff has had to complete numerous repairs along the road in recent years. However, more extensive repairs are needed to prepare the road for the winter. Yosemite Valley to Reopen to Visitors on Tuesday, August 14th, at 9:00 a.m.

The Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias to reopen on Monday, August 13th Yosemite National Park is pleased to announce that Yosemite Valley will reopen to visitors on Tuesday, August 14th, at 9:00 a.m. Yosemite Valley has been closed to visitors since Wednesday, July 25th, due to impacts from the Ferguson Fire. Alpenglow Expeditions to Open Via Ferrata at Lake Tahoe’s Squaw Valley Resort

Sierra Rec Magazine – Olympic Valley, Calif., August 9, 2018 – Alpenglow Expeditions, a North Lake Tahoe area-based guide service, will soon begin construction of two Via Ferrata climbing routes up Tram Face at Squaw Valley Resort. The routes will allow even those with no climbing experience the opportunity to safely scale the iconic rock face, exploring high alpine terrain while taking in the beautiful vistas.Via Ferrata, an Italian term meaning Iron Road, is a protected climbing route with permanent steel anchors and cables that allow participants to be safely connected to the rock 100% of the time. All climbs will be led by Alpenglow Expeditions’ experienced team of AMGA (American Mountain Guide Association) trained guides who will teach participants how to navigate the rock face while introducing basic climbing techniques.
