The Inyo National Forest and Devils Postpile National Monument announce that the Reds Meadow Valley Road will open on Friday, July 21 at 8:00 am. Sierra Rec Magazine – Sierra Access Updates- July 20, 2017 – The Road to Devils Postpile, Rainbow Falls and Reds Meadow will open Friday, July 21, at 8:am to the public. This road received storm damage after the substantial snowpack from this winter and the subsequent melt-off and flooding. Reds Meadow Valley Road Closed for the Season

The Reds Meadow Valley Road is closed for the 2016 season. The Inyo National Forest makes every effort to keep the Reds Meadow Valley Road open through October 15th.  After October 15th, the road remains open until natural conditions such as snow or ice warrants closure of the road. The road temporarily closed for a mudslide that occurred on October 16th but re-opened on October 21st to provided continued access to the valley and Devils Postpile National Monument into the late season.
