East Access to Yosemite, Tioga Pass to Open May 1, 2015

Reports out of Lee Ving last week reported the that the target date for opening Tioga Pass and East Side access to Yosemite National Park is May 1, 2015. Crews have started snow removal, log and rock removal from the roadways.

Because of the lack of snow this season this will be the earliest opening date on record for

Tioga Pass

Tioga Pass – Yosemites East entrance

the Tioga Pass. Beating last year by 1 day. Tioga Pass this year had its lowest snowpack on record. Early season visits are recommended if you want to see waterfalls and streams flowing this year with any volume.

Obviously with Tioga Pass things can change rapidly.
