17th Annual Thin Air Chili Cook Off and Annual 5K/10K Run Set For Saturday in Kirkwood

Kirkwood Resort – Alpine County HWy 88 – August 31, 2017 – The ‘Thin Air’ Chili Cook Off, an event sponsored by the Kirkwood Meadows Public Utility District, features the region’s top chili makers, beer and wine tasting, live music by Mo’z Motley Blues and activities for kids.
Chili/beer/wine tasting kits include a commemorative glass and cost $30 for adults over 21 years of age. Chili tasting kits without beer and wine tasting are $10.

Annual 5K/10K Run

The Annual 5K/10K Run is a fun event that has been taking place at Kirkwood each Labor Day weekend for 36 years. Presented by the Kirkwood Volunteer Fire Department, the 10K trail adventure run follows a single track and dirt road 3 miles up the mountain to an elevation of 8,500 feet. The 5K run loops the gorgeous Thunder Saddle meadow.

Race day registration takes place from 8:00am-8:45am at The Lodge. The Kids race kicks off at 9am with the 5K and 10K to follow.
