Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows, the Spring Skiing Capital, is gearing up for its most event-filled spring season in history. With historic snowfall bringing 685 inches and counting, the resort plans to operate with skiing and riding into June and on July 4, weather and conditions permitting, once again offering Tahoe’s longest season. With numerous spring events and activities to compliment sun-soaked skiing and riding, 2017-18 Tahoe Super Passholders can take advantage of the long season with free skiing all spring. Tahoe-Truckee Earth Day Celebration in The Village at Squaw Valley – Saturday, April 22
Celebrate the Earth and join Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows for the largest eco-event in the North Lake Tahoe and Truckee area. Tahoe-Truckee Earth Day gives participants the opportunity to learn about earth-friendly practices including recycling, composting, alternative energy and sustainability. A diverse array of agency representatives and earth friendly vendors will be present to help participants learn more about how they can reduce their ecological footprint. To learn more, click here.
34th Annual Snow Golf Tournament at Alpine Meadows – Saturday, April 22
Ditch the ski jacket for a collared shirt and khakis- Alpine Meadows’ Annual Snow Golf Tournament is back for its 34th year! As the only top-to-bottom snow golf course, this highly anticipated spring event is a unique way to spend a day on the slopes with the whole family. The nine-hole course starts at the top of Summit Express Chair and meanders its way down the mountain with the last holes bringing competitors back to the bottom of Alpine Bowl Chair. This event is weather and conditions permitting.
Ice Bar Party – Saturday, April 22 at Alpine Meadows
After a spring day on the mountain, head to the Ice Bar on the backside of Alpine Meadows from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for fun games and tunes with a live DJ. Games include corn hole, ladder toss and hula-hooping. Click here for more information. This event is weather and conditions permitting.
Cinco de Mayo Party at Squaw Valley – Saturday, May 5
Grab your skis and snowboards for a unique Cinco de Mayo themed weekend Squaw Valley. Join us on Friday for a Cinco de Mayo party with Mariachi in the Village and an Après Tequila Tasting Notes on the KT Deck.
27th Annual Cushing Crossing at Squaw Valley – Saturday, May 6
The 27th Annual Cushing Crossing is the best event of the spring season. The original pond skimming event that started a spring resort ritual, participants are challenged to cross the chilly waters of Cushing Pond on skis, a snowboard, or any ski- or snowboard-based vessel – resulting in colossal crashes, ultra-creative contraptions and hilarious costumes, with the spectacle being judged by a celebrity panel. This year’s Cushing Crossing starts at 1:00 p.m. at Cushing Pond, located adjacent to the KT Base Bar. The legendary competition will be limited to the first 50 registrants, and participants can register on the morning of the event at KT Base Bar. 5th Annual Made in Tahoe Festival in The Village at Squaw Valley – May 27 & 28
Made in Tahoe Festival returns to The Village at Squaw Valley to celebrate all things local. The festival features live music and performances on three stages, as well as over 100 local vendors offering food, drink and artisan goods that are made or inspired in the Lake Tahoe Basin and Truckee areas. Squaw Valley Half Marathon & Run to Squaw 8 Miler – Sunday, June 11
Get out and get active for the Squaw Valley Half Marathon and Run to Squaw 8 miler. Part of the Tahoe Trail Running Series, the Squaw Valley Half Marathon starts and finishes at The Village At Squaw Valley while the 8 miler begins at Commons Beach in Tahoe City and ends in the heart of The Village. Bluesdays – Tuesdays, June 13 – September 5
Bluesdays will celebrate its summer kickoff on June 13 in The Village at Squaw Valley. This popular and free outdoor concert series features acclaimed blues musicians, great grab and go food offerings from Village restaurants and a Blues bar with beer, wine & spirits available in the Events Plaza. 8th Annual Peaks and Paws Festival – June 17 & 18
The Village at Squaw Valley is paying tribute to man – and woman’s – best friend with the 8th Annual Peaks and Paws Festival. Dogs and their Masters can enjoy 2 days of live music, delicious food, and wine and beer tasting (people only!) amid Squaw Valley’s stunning mountain setting. The festival also includes a dog-friendly guided hike up the mountain, an array of specialty product pet vendors and a dock jumping competition with Splash Dogs. All of the proceeds from the festival will benefit the Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe.
Kids Adventure Games – June 23-25
The 3rd Annual Squaw Valley Kids Adventure Games features a kid sized adventure race where teams of two navigate a ‘natural terrain’ inspired obstacle course. Kids can expect mountain biking, hiking, zip-lines, a Tarzan rope swing, giant Slip-n-Slide, tubing, cargo nets, mud pits and more. Squaw Kids Adventure Camp – June 23 — September 4
This summer let your child explore and discover adventure at Squaw Valley through outdoor activities and art exploration alongside our experienced counselors and other kids. The Squaw Kids Adventure Camp is offered on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays through June 23 – September 4, 2017 from 9am-3pm. Enjoy a day to yourself to recharge knowing that your child is having fun in a safe environment. Our fun and friendly counselors are experienced in working with kids and create an adventurous, but safe environment both indoors and out. Spring Operations at Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows
With more than 57 feet of cumulative snowfall, the Spring Skiing Capital is primed to once again host Tahoe’s longest season. Alpine Meadows will operate seven days a week through Sunday, April 30 and then Saturdays & Sundays only through closing day on Sunday, May 14. Weather and conditions permitting, Squaw Valley will continue to operate into June and on July 4, marking only the fourth time in the last 50 years that the resort has reopened for Independence Day.
3rd Annual #SpringSkiingCapital Photo Contest
With signature events, dress up contests, live music every weekend and more, this spring will be the most eventful in
resort history.
