Project Details: Tahoe Rim Trail | South Lake Tahoe
A Day hike to Castle Rock in South Lake Tahoe off the Tahoe Rim Trail is a must do when visiting Lake Tahoe. This short 3.5 mile round trip hike offers adventurous spirits a fantastic hike and view of Lake Tahoe. Those willing to climb the boulders at the base of the rock to the top are rewarded with a scenic vista that rivals all other lookouts in Lake Tahoe. This Trail Loop takes off at the parking lot on Brautovich Trail Head (North Kingsbury Trail Head on Tahoe Rim trail Map). Turn off Hwy 207 (Kingsbury Grade) just below the top onto N. BenJamin Dr. Follow it to the end where the parking lot sits. Trail will gradually climb for about half-mile then go down until you are the base of Castle Peak. A nice little climb up to the base of the rock provides you with options for climbing and seeing the lake from a completely different vantage point. Recommend going to the right side and climbing where the trail seems to stop.
