Elizabeth Lake – Tuolumne Meadows Day Hike
Yosemite National Park Day Hikes-
Elizabeth Lake is not as recognized as its neighbor The Cathedral Lakes in the High Sierra and out of Tuolumne Meadows. However, this high mountain lake and day hike is a great hike and considerable easier hike for beginners looking to experience the high Sierra Lakes.
Elizabeth Lake sits to the east of Unicorn Peak and south of the Tuolumne Meadow. Parking access for this day hike can be found behind the Tuolumne meadow campground and the parking area includes bathrooms and bear lockers.
The Hike to Elizabeth Lake does involve a steady incline up to the lake as the hike will climb approx. 900 feet over 2.3 miles. The total round trip is 4.6 mile hike.
Elevation of the Lake is 9500′.
Elizebeth Lake is another beautiful High Sierra Lake. The Trail will provide you access to walk around the lake ( highly recommended) there are many shore areas to sit next to the water and it is a great lake for afternoon fishing or a quick dip in the cool high sierra water.
The Trail is mostly shaded as you climb out of the Tuolumne Meadow, bug spray and sun tan lotion recommended.
